An Early Spring Investigation
Yesterday, 3 girls, a mom and I took our nets to Lake Homestead and the stream to see if there were any invertebrates in the cold water. We found lots of damselfly larvae, a rat-tailed maggot, caddisfly larvae, 3 mini bluegills, a minnow, water spider and lots of scuds.
The girls managed to get their pants wet, even though they were wearing good boots. We really appreciated the warming power of the sun
There were also around 50 ducks on the pond, joining the noisy red-winged blackbirds that have returned.
